  2. Well isnt that just a lovely sight, theres nothing better than seeing them preen one another and sounding so contented. Mylo is a credit to you, you have come a long way with him in a short time and he looks to be getting his condition back now, he looks great.
Shame that JJ cant be there with him.

Your set up there looks ideal, plenty of space and proper sized cages suitable for large species like Macaws. One of my pet hates is seeing Macaws in cramped conditions. A lot of people do not have the room for such large birds and I think this contributes to their problem behaviour in a lot of cases.

  3. Thank you for your kind words mick-sue and Robert.

As he has been here for way beyond a quarantine period, it really wasn't fair to keep Mylo in a separate room from the other Macaws for any longer as he was showing great interest in meeting them and they have been calling back and forth since he first arrived here. I hate to see lone Macaws as they are such social creatures and thrive in the company of their own kind. I don't like to see them in cages at all and mine tend to make greater use of the tops of their cages than the insides.

He and Kiki palled up very quickly which was a bit surprising as they are both male and very similar temperament. They are a real pair of miscreants when they get their heads together and love to go around letting all the smaller birds out of their cages on a morning and generally causing as much chaos as possible!

It just breaks my heart to think of JJ and the sad condition she is in. I'm sure neither she nor Mylo will have forgotten one another :(

  4. Wow, what a most beautiful sight. That has really made my day and only highlights further that this truly is for those who have not yet seen sense, the right cause to be backing.

Caron you truly are a credit to the situation, you have genuinely accomplished the very beginnings of Mylo’s new happy, healthy future. I am proud to support you and this effort. Without you, Mylo’s path would have been lead down a very different, unfortunate route.

“For me, the sight of a parrot living alone, living in a cage, deprived of flight, miserably bored, breaks my heart. And the parrot’s too, perhaps. There are hundreds of parrots suffering, unloved and unwanted, by those who have not understood their emotional and social needs.

"It is like keeping an elephant chained in your back yard. No one should think of sharing their lives with a parrot unless they can offer hours of companionship each day and provide a stimulating environment. If you feel you must have a parrot, adopt one of those who have been bought and abandoned, and offer him or her new life."
