I certainly hope it was just a minor blip in the long love story and absence will make the heart fonder. I did wonder if he was looking for JJ when he went walkabout this morning...

Mylo is having to make do with my little spare so no cage building on the agenda.

Jay - I think I would still have transported them both, but in separate cages. I have never found a macaw that didn't enjoy travelling so I don't think they would have stayed stressed for long - too much to distract them. And the Pallace cage has a divider if needed. Still, if there was only one carry cage I guess you were buggered!

Look everyone I understand that there are going to be differing views on what did and what should have happened yesterday, but can we please bear in mind, that what was done was done for the birds best interests at that given time.
I am sure that the decision wasnt made easily by either Adele or Jay not to transport both birds at the same time.
As soon as there are any updates on the next move, everyone will be informed and of course kept up to date.

So I respectfuly ask everyone to keep this thread about the birds and not the problem with transport.. Thankyou...

Oh sorry - I didn't realise there was a problem with transport. I was just concerned for the welfare of the birds....as you say.

Pauline, I agree that two dog crates would have been preferable to transport two large large Macaws across country and would have offered Jay one of mine to use, had I known there was only one available.

I was quite surprised and saddened that they were separated after hearing how well bonded they were plus all that they have been through together, and would have been quite prepared to handle any problems they were experiencing. I'm sure all UKPR members would agree that their happiness and well being is paramount.

The Pallace would have been perfect to keep them seperated if they were fighting but it is staying with Adele now.

Oh, sorry Caron - I was sure I'd seen on here that the Pallace was specifically for them, and was going to go with them to their new fosterer.

RE: Mylo~JJ- Catalina~Military Macaw's ( update great news)

Vikky, I said that another Pallace cage would not fit in my bird room.

However, when it was made clear that putting JJ and Mylo with my other birds wasn't allowed I said that I would need a large cage for them to go into another room.

At that time, 'sparkysmummy' made a post on the forum commenting on how she had gone out of her way to collect the kindly donated cage for Mylo and JJ and seeing that their 'foster profile' states that they "come with a Pallace cage (new)" I felt that it was only right that I make the room to allow them to be comfortable and accustomed to the cage they will eventually live in as their forever home.

When I spoke to Adele about this she told me that you had agreed that she could swap her two old macaw cages and keep the Pallace for her two macaws, and she would send one of her old cages with JJ and Mylo. However, no cage has arrived with Mylo and he is now housed in my spare which is really too small for him.

I'm sorry if this upsets anyone but I was only doing what I thought was right and best for those two poor birds

i have not refused that they cannot go in with your birds, surely you quarenteen new comers? and yes,the cage is on their thread, but you are not fostering them as yet are you,you are emergency caring with a view to fostering, and as you well know, the large macaw cage was coming up to you next sunday
