RE: Mylo~JJ- Catalina~Military Macaw's ( update great news)

hi,sorry only just seen this thread and would like to clarify a few points please

when mylo bit jj it wasnt a bit of a fight at all he purposly bit her so hard she was bleeding quite bad from her foot,me been me i panicked so i rang vicky straight away for advice to stop the bleeding, poor jj was stressed to hell at this stage

infact she flew onto my greys cage to get away from him,i must add its the 1st time ive ever seen her fly in 6 months so she must have been upset and wanting to get away from him.

so i put her in my travel crate away from him but that was stressing her also,so i let her out onto the java tree,at this stage i had to go manchester airport to pick up my parents so dan sat with jj to keep an eye on her

within 10 mins of getting home jay arrived to collect them,we struggled for ages to get them in the crate, just as we achived it all hell broke loose and i mean hell, mylo was going for jj,s bad foot making it bleed again, and jj was oviously still mad at him also she was going mental.

i honestly belive if they were transported together one would be killed

the only other carrier we had was a small cat one but we tried several times with jj and she was becoming very stresses at this point.

so as having these birds for over 6 months and loving them to bits i was not prepared to take the risk for the 3 hour journey no way

both me and jay thought the same it wasnt a easy dession to spit them up,we rang vicky for advice and decided to just take mlyo just till next week, then jay would collect jj after stafford.

how jj was there was not a hope in hell that i would let her travel stress out and with a poorly foot,i wasnt prepared to take the risk at all,i would never have forgive myself if they got hurt or poor jay ended up crashing due to them scrapping in the van

what was i suppoed to do????????

RE: Mylo~JJ- Catalina~Military Macaw's ( update great news)

the palace cage i collected was donated to UKPR for emergency caring birds, it was ME who suggested it went to mylo and jj as they hadnt found a permanent home at that point and i thought it would make their stay with delly more comfy, it wasnt specifically for them , it was donated to UKPR , as long as it helps some birds in emergency situations its doing its job, didnt mean it to cause trouble once mylo went to their permanent home.it is not new and has been well used - i had to clean old poop off it when it got here and before that it had been stored in a shed for some time

hope the mylo and jj are reunited soon bless them

RE: Mylo~JJ- Catalina~Military Macaw's ( update great news)

Vikky, Yes, I always quarantine my new arrivals for six weeks. However when we discussed JJ and Mylo I asked you if you thought this would be necessary we were certain that they had only been at Adele's and in contact with her birds for the previous six months. The conversation ended with us in agreement that for quarantine and social reasons it would be better for them to be kept separate from my other birds.

Yes, I am supposed to be emergency caring for JJ and Mylo and, as I pointed out in previous emails and posts, I felt that it would be in their best interest if they had their own cage to become accustomed to whilst living with me, whether they stay or not.

You say that the Pallace cage is on their thread, and that I am only an emergency carer. Does that mean that Mylo and JJ's eventual fosterer will be given the cage? You see, I was told by Adele that it has been given to her by UKPR in exchange for her old ones to UKPR?

As for "well knowing" that JJ and a large cage will be coming next Sunday... I didn't even know that Mylo was coming alone with no cage until half an hour before he arrived, never mind what might happen next week!!!

I would just like to add that your fostering agreement states that UKPR birds being fostered 'must not be exposed to smoking'. However, Mylo absolutely reeks of cigarettes!!

Again, sorry if this offends but I feel it needs to be said in the interests of openness, professionalism and the well being of the birds.

Sorry, I have never seen the cage and unconcerned with it's age. Was only quoting the fact it was 'new' from the fostering profile on the forum.

is you phone switched off? i am trying to call you but no answer.......i think the easiest solution would be for adele to foster the 2 big guys,as she has now asked if she can take them on full time, which we are in agreement with,jj by the sounds of it is missing mylo and so is adele we can arrange for mylo to be collected today and bought back to adele asap she already has the pallace there,so problem solved all round

RE: Mylo~JJ- Catalina~Military Macaw's ( update great news)

How am I not surprised that you have now turned around and asked for Mylo back after being challenged on such a trivial matter of a cage that was stated on your own forum will be coming with these two birds as their new home?

I am deeply saddened for Mylo now and am very conscious of his future welfare considering he has come to me stinking of cigarette smoke, and he was put up for fostering by his emergency carer because she was allergic to birds. An emergency carer who now wants to adopt him full time because she has a grievance with me over my thoughts and opinions?

Why would someone who is allergic to birds, place them up for adoption for this reason and now want to foster the two birds because of a small disagreement?

Isn’t the care of birds what is important here and not human feelings and pride?

It doesn’t say much for those behind UKPR does it!!!

This issue with the cage and now the future welfare of Mylo has been played out on the open forum for all to see. What hasn’t been discussed is the initial theft of my finch that was on transit to a new home by UKPR.

I personally have enough grounds to go to the police to start an investigation into the running of UKPR, and also lodge a complaint with the RSPCA.

As someone who is well known to my local police force as a bird rescuer the only care in the world I have is for the welfare of birds that come into my care, like the situation with the finch.

Mylo will not be leaving my house today because of my personal fear for his future based on what I have stated above. If you would like to pursue this with the police then please contact them so that they can come and take a statement from me.

All the evidence regarding Mylo and all other birds that have come through UKPR not including the financial side is documented on your forum, so once investigators go snooping what are they going to find?

Mylo has settled well into my home now, he is a friendly little fella walking about on my partners shoulder and he has said that if you wish to fight to take Mylo back then we will pursue all avenues for the sake of Mylos safety and future well being. Jay remarked before leaving mine yesterday that how different a bird Mylo was in the hands of somebody more confident than Adele.

Given the petty nature of this squabble over the cage I would have hoped that this could have been sorted out amicably for the sake of JJ and Mylo because in reality that is all that matters here. If this cannot be sorted out amicably then there will be no alternative but to get the police involved and allow them to sort matters out.

RE: Mylo~JJ- Catalina~Military Macaw's ( update great news)

so for someone that has the birds best interests at heart you are prepared to split a bonded pair forever because you are refusing to give him back........where is your finch......i think you will find that he is with his intended home,if you are refusing to give mylo back dosent that constitute theft? he was never yours to keep,he is 1 half of a bonded pair, how can you live with yourself after knowing that jj is pining for him ? and you say you have thier welfare at heart??? and i also think you are pushing the boundries of slander

I am speechless. Caron how the hell can you split up a bonded pair for good FOR THE BEST OF THE BIRDS. It seems whatever UKPR did was never good enough for you, whatever happened yesterday would have caused you to kick off. What would have you said if you didn't have either? The birds were seperated yesterday TEMPORARILY because of a pretty darn major squabble between themselves and were always intended to be re-united once the injured party had recovered. To now say you are not handing him over, well that is selfish. And you say you have the best interests of the bird at heart.
